I don’t normally make New Year’s resolutions- it’s too much pressure- but the Story of Stuff has inspired me to make a few changes this year. I have listed them below and hope to write about my progress on each of these throughout the year.
The Story of Stuff, an animation that depicts the lifecycle of “stuff”, cleared up a lot of questions I had about what environmental responsibility and sustainability really means. This simple and concise animation explains how stuff travels through a linear system from EXTRACTION to PRODUCTION to DISTRIBUTION to CONSUMPTION to DISPOSAL and the problems inherent in this system at every step of the way. It makes suggestions on how to protest this materials economy and calls for the adoption of a new, sustainable and just way of living.

There are now two possible designations that can be earned, known as “Green Associate” and “LEED AP+”. The new designations, what they are, who they are meant for and how to earn them can get confusing so I tried to clear it up a little here.
